Definition

AZ50 Galvalume Steel is an alloy-coated steel sheet with 55% aluminum, 43.5% zinc, and 1.6% silicon hot-dip coated on the surface of cold-rolled steel sheet. Its coating structure has stronger corrosion resistance, scratch resistance, and self-healing ability than traditional galvanized steel sheet, especially suitable for long-term use in harsh environments. We specialize in producing AZ50 GL Steel in accordance with various standards such as ASTM, JIS, GB, etc.

• “AZ”: stands for aluminum-zinc alloy, the material of the steel surface coating.
• “50”: The total weight of the coating on both sides is 0.50 ounces per square foot, which is equivalent to 150 grams per square meter.

Surface treatment

• Passivation treatment (C): A passivation film is formed on the surface of the coating by chemical methods to enhance its corrosion resistance.
• Oiling treatment (O): A layer of oil film is applied to the surface of the coating to prevent oxidation or scratches during transportation and storage.
• Paint sealing treatment (L): The coating is sealed with an organic coating to further improve its weather resistance and decorative properties.
• Phosphating treatment (P): A phosphating film is formed on the surface of the coating through a phosphating reaction to improve coating adhesion and corrosion resistance.
• Untreated (U): The coating is kept in its original state, suitable for scenes requiring subsequent processing or specific surface treatment.

Commonly used substrates

The base material of AZ50 Galvalume Steel is usually made of high-quality cold-rolled steel (CR), which can be selected according to different uses:

• SPCC: low carbon steel, suitable for general construction and home appliance housing. SPCD stands for stamping, and SPCE stands for deep stamping.
• DX51D: ordinary commodity-grade hot-dip galvanized material grade, +AZ means the coating is zinc-aluminum alloy.
• DX52D: similar to DX51D, with higher ductility, suitable for application scenarios with high requirements for formability.
• S series: S220GD – S550GD, the yield strength gradually increases as the number increases. The yield strength of S220GD is not less than 220MPa, S250GD is not less than 250MPa, S280GD is not less than 280MPa, and S350GD is not less than 350MPa.
• DC series: DC01 for general use, DC03 for stamping, and DC04 for deep stamping. The larger the number, the better the deep drawing performance.

Core Features

• Excellent corrosion resistance: 3-6 times higher than ordinary galvanized sheet (GI) in corrosion resistance. When zinc is damaged, dense aluminum oxide is formed to prevent corrosion.
• Good thermal reflectivity: The thermal reflectivity is twice that of galvanized steel sheet. It can withstand high temperatures of 300°C for a long time and 400°C for a short time. It can reduce heat penetration in summer and can be used as a heat insulation material.
• Good processing performance: It has high strength and is also suitable for stamping, bending, welding, and other processing. The coating has strong adhesion and its composition also has a good protective effect on the incision.
• Aesthetics: The coating surface is smooth, with high dimensional accuracy, flatness, and cleanness, high reflectivity, and is highly appreciative and improves the grade.

Applications in various industries

• Buildings: used for roofs and exterior walls of industrial plants, commercial buildings, warehouses, soundproof walls, piping systems and garage structures. As roof tiles, gutters and decorative panels for villas and self-built houses, it can also be used for light steel structures such as purlins and supports.
• Vehicles and ships: mufflers, exhaust pipes, wiper accessories, fuel tanks, chassis, body frames, trunks, truck containers, truck compartment floors, side panels, ship internal parts, railway carriages, etc.
• Home appliance industry: refrigerator back panels, air conditioners, microwave oven shells or back panels, LED backlights, electrical cabinets, etc.

Production process

• Substrate pretreatment: Strictly select high-quality cold-rolled steel plates for degreasing and pickling to ensure a clean surface.
• Hot-dip galvanizing process: Like the galvanized plate process, immerse the steel plate in a molten plating solution and strictly control the temperature.
• Cooling and passivation: Use an air knife to control the coating thickness, and apply an environmentally friendly passivation layer after cooling (chrome-free/chrome-containing optional).
• Surface reprocessing: Post-processing such as printing, embossing, and PVDF coating can be performed to enhance aesthetics and functionality
• Quality inspection: Multi-dimensional inspection of material properties, coating quality, appearance, and size, through bending test, impact test, tensile test, salt spray test, and other methods.
